Microsoft Silverlight Tools Beta 2 for Visual Studio 2008

Add-on for Visual Studio 2008 for developing applications for Silverlight 2 Beta 2

Silverlight Tools Beta 2 has been updated to support Visual Studio 2008 and Visual Studio 2008 SP1. Visual Studio 2008 SP1 Beta is no longer supported.

WARNING: Before Installing Silverlight Tools Beta 2 it's critical that you manually uninstall KB949325 (this was installed by Silverlight Tools Beta 1)
For Windows Vista:

  • Open Uninstall a Program from the Control Panel
  • Click 'View installed updates' in the task bar on the left
  • Remove KB949325 (it will be listed under your version of Visual Studio 2008)
For Windows XP:
  • Open the Add/Remove Programs dialog from the Control Panel
  • Click 'Show updates' at the top of the window
  • Remove KB949325 (it will be listed under your version of Visual Studio 2008)
Important: Please have Visual Studio installation media available. The uninstallation of KB949325 may prompt for Visual Studio installation media!
This package is an add-on to provide tooling for Microsoft Silverlight 2 Beta 2. It can be installed either on top of Visual Studio 2008 RTM or Visual Studio 2008 SP1, and it provides a Silverlight project system for developing Silverlight applications using C# or Visual Basic.
This download will install the following:




  • Silverlight 2 Beta 2
  • Silverlight 2 SDK Beta 2
  • KB950630 for Visual Studio 2008 RTM or KB955214 for Visual Studio 2008 SP1
  • Silverlight Tools Beta 2 for Visual Studio 2008
